"Why would I want to encapsulate my Placenta?"
Answer: Because you want to avoid postpartum depression, postpartum anemia and lactation issues, and you want to do it all without chemical drugs or side effects.
I know, to many people it sounds weird...even "gross" or taboo. In reality, nearly ALL mammals consume their placenta for a variety of reasons that has nothing to do with hunger or nest site cleaning. The main reason is actually pretty common sense: In the last trimester, the Placenta takes over much of the hormone production normally done by the brain. After you go through the last stage of labor and your placenta is born, it takes up to 2 months or more to get the brain back on track to start that production again. The result is a sharp drop in hormones which can lead to many postpartum problems. Our mammalian friends know this and therefore will eat the placenta often before even taking care of the baby. Whoa. It also contains much of your iron stores and is a bio-available iron supplement which will not cause constipation!

Answer: First, call Ayus and let us know about your EDD and birthing place. Second, tell your provider and find out all your hospitals placenta release rules. Third, get a small cooler and plate sized tupperware and put with your birthbag if you are birthing outside the home, or if birthing insidethe home, the tupperware will suffice!
"How does the process work?"
Answer: Andrea will come to your home on the decided upon time 1-4 days after you deliver. She will bring all supplies needed including cleaning supplies and sterilization means. She will need access to your sink and stove and will always leave your kitchen cleaner than she found it. The process is 2-fold: First she will prepare it using hygienic methods according to OSHA guidelines and traditional Chinese Medicine practices. The placenta is first steamed and then dehydrated. At this point, Andrea will leave your home while the placenta dries in the dehydrator for about 8 hours. When she returns, she will powder it and put it into capsules and an attractive portable container with full dosage instructions. Andrea is available if you are in the house at the time to answer any questions you may have. Placenta Prints are available as a keepsake upon request.
"How much does it cost?"
Answer: The service is provided at a sliding scale rate with no questions asked ($175-$275, average payment is around $250) Payment plans are also available
